Wahoo Files ITC Complaint to Block JetBlack Victory Trainer Imports

Wahoo Fitness has filed a Section 337 complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission targeting the JetBlack Victory direct-drive smart trainer. The move asks the ITC to block imports and sales of the unit in the U.S. market, reopening the smart trainer patent wars that have been simmering in the cycling tech space for years.

Section 337 complaints are serious legal tools. If the ITC sides with Wahoo, JetBlack could face a full import ban before the Victory even gets a foothold with American cyclists. These cases typically run 12 to 18 months, so this is a long game for both brands.

For athletes shopping trainers right now, the JetBlack Victory was positioning itself as a competitive alternative to the Wahoo KICKR Core and Tacx Neo 2T. Direct-drive trainers in that segment typically run $600 to $1,100, and more competition usually means better pricing and faster feature development for consumers.

The broader context matters here. Wahoo has been aggressive about protecting its intellectual property since the Peloton-era patent litigation wave hit the fitness hardware industry. JetBlack, an Australian brand with a growing presence, was gaining real traction before this complaint dropped.

Verdict: If you were eyeing the Victory, hold off. U.S. availability is now a genuine question mark. Stick with the KICKR Core or Tacx Neo 2T for now unless you are outside the U.S.
