GPS and tracking accuracy
The Bounce 2 uses GNSS satellite positioning with LTE to give parents a real-time location feed. That is its core function and the lens through which GPS should be judged here. It is not evaluated on lap splits or pace accuracy.
The Oura Ring 4 has no onboard GPS. For workout route mapping it depends entirely on your phone. If you run without your phone, you get no route data. This is a known and accepted limitation for a ring form factor. The Oura is not a workout tracking device and should not be purchased for that purpose.
Battery life
The Oura Ring 4 delivers approximately 7 days between charges. In practice this means most users charge it once a week, often while showering. For a sleep and recovery tracker, this is the right tradeoff.
The Bounce 2 needs daily charging when LTE is active. For a kids' device that depends on being on and connected throughout a school day, this is a real operational friction point. These devices do not compete. Buy the Garmin Bounce 2 if you are a parent who wants real-time location tracking and LTE messaging for a young child, and you are already inside the Garmin ecosystem. Buy the Oura Ring 4 if you are an adult who wants the most accurate consumer-grade sleep and recovery tracking available, and you accept paying a monthly subscription for full data access. If you are an adult athlete looking at the Oura Ring 4 hoping it replaces a GPS sports watch, it will not. If you are a parent looking at the Bounce 2 for yourself, it was not designed for you.
