Garmin Forerunner 170: Full Physio Stack at £260

Garmin's latest, the Forerunner 170, is here. Priced at £259.99 ($299.99), it's Garmin's first sub-£300 watch with their full physiology stack , that's advanced running dynamics, VO2 max, recovery advisor, and more. It replaces the MIP display with AMOLED, offering better visibility.
This puts it in direct competition with the Coros Apex Pro (£299), which offers similar features but lacks Garmin's extensive training insights and connected features. The FR170 also undercuts the Polar Vantage V2 (£359) by around £100, offering most of its high-end features at a mid-range price.
For endurance athletes, this means serious power at a reasonable price. You get advanced metrics like running power and ground contact time, plus Garmin's excellent training status and load features to help you optimize your performance. Battery life is solid too , up to 7 days in smartwatch mode or 20 hours in GPS mode.
Verdict: Not perfect , no multi-GNSS support here unlike the FR945 LTE. But solid, offering serious value for money with its comprehensive physiology stack and improved display.
