Garmin Instinct 3 AMOLED Hits $349 Before Black Friday

The Garmin Instinct 3 AMOLED is $349 on Amazon, down $100 from its $449 retail price, according to Tom’s Guide. That makes it a strong pre Black Friday deal for athletes who want a rugged watch with a bright screen and a built-in flashlight. Still, the discount is not the whole story: Black Friday could bring deeper Garmin cuts.
What the $349 Instinct 3 offers
This is a practical outdoor watch first. Tom’s Guide highlights its 100-meter water-resistance rating, impact-resistant metal-reinforced bezel and five physical buttons. Those buttons matter more than a glossy touchscreen when hands are sweaty, gloved or wet after a swim. The source also reports reliable tracking accuracy and excellent battery life from real-world use across running, hiking, biking, snowboarding and snorkeling.
The AMOLED version is the right pick for athletes who prioritize readable maps, data fields and everyday smartwatch use. Tom’s Guide calls the display bright and well saturated, with better readability across more situations, including bright sunlight. There is a trade-off. The monochrome MIP Instinct 3 Solar has solar charging and better battery performance, and it can work better with polarized sunglasses. That model is also $50 off at Amazon, according to the report.
The built-in LED flashlight is the sleeper feature here. Its top output can light a route in darkness, while strobe and red-light modes have obvious use on early trail starts, late finishes and around camp. We would not buy a training watch solely for a torch. Once you have used one while fumbling for kit before dawn, though, it is hard to dismiss.
Why Black Friday patience may pay off
The5kRunner expects wider Garmin promotions this Black Friday. It reports that the Fenix 8 fell 25% last year while the Forerunner 970 dropped 13%, and argues that Fenix 9 has moved more watches into last-generation pricing. Its forecast is up to 10 points more off, helped by retailer appetite for strong promotions. Treat that as an informed expectation, not a promised Instinct 3 price.
There are already signs that the value end of Garmin’s range is moving. Buyers who prefer solar charging over an AMOLED display can also look at the [Instinct 2X Solar deal at £179.99](/en/articles/garmin-instinct-2x-solar-falls-to-179-99-2026-10-28). For premium-watch shoppers, the [Fenix 8 price drop after Fenix 9](/en/articles/garmin-fenix-8-drops-to-559-after-fenix-9-2026-10-27) shows the same broader pressure. That makes $349 for the Instinct 3 AMOLED good, but not necessarily unrepeatable.
What is missing is certainty. Tom’s Guide says the Instinct 3 has previously reached $299, but gives no reason to assume that price will return. The Black Friday outlook also does not identify an Instinct 3 discount or a sale end date. Athletes who need a watch now should not gamble on a forecast; athletes replacing a still-working watch have a fair reason to wait.
Verdict: the Instinct 3 AMOLED at $349 is a sensible buy for runners, cyclists and outdoor athletes who want a bright screen, physical controls and a flashlight now. Wait if the main goal is the lowest possible Garmin price rather than getting this specific watch onto the wrist today.
