watchOS 27.2 Expands Siri AI on Apple Watch

watchOS 27.2 is rolling out now for Apple Watch, led by a broader and faster Siri AI experience rather than any new training feature. The update requires iOS 27.2 to be installed first, according to 9to5Mac. For endurance athletes, this is a convenience release: more useful answers and less friction when the phone is out of reach.

Siri AI can now recall past conversations, so users can ask about information Siri supplied earlier. Apple also says it can pull from more personal sources, including photos attached in Messages, Calendar attendees, voicemails, and improved Safari history and Reading List results from the paired phone. That could make a quick pre-run or pre-ride check more practical, such as retrieving a restaurant recommendation or a detail from a calendar plan. The key limitation is obvious: this is assistant context, not sport data analysis.

Language support has expanded beyond the US English-only launch in watchOS 27.0. French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish are now supported for Siri AI. Apple says responses are faster on the watch, while a new Excluded Apps setting lets users control which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access from one iPhone setting. For athletes who keep health, location and training logistics on their wrist, that control matters as much as the extra intelligence.

What is missing is anything that changes the Apple Watch’s position as a training tool. 9to5Mac reports no new workout metrics, navigation functions, sensor support or battery improvements. Apple Music receives a black-and-white icon and more monochrome design changes, but that is cosmetic. Athletes wanting a more sport-specific platform may still look toward watches such as the [Suunto Run 2](/en/articles/suunto-run-2-review-offline-maps-meet-a-leaner-watch-2026-10-24) or Garmin’s Fenix line.

Verdict: watchOS 27.2 is worth installing for Apple Watch users who use Siri and need the new languages or privacy controls. For serious training, it is a helpful quality-of-life update, not a reason to switch from a dedicated endurance watch.
