GPS and tracking accuracy
Garmin Body Battery runs on whatever GPS hardware the host device provides. A Forerunner 265 delivers solid GPS accuracy for running and cycling. Whoop MG has no onboard GPS at all. It will use your phone's GPS if you carry one, but for pure tracking of distance and pace it is not a standalone solution. These two products solve different problems and direct comparison only makes sense if you are deciding whether to add Whoop MG on top of a Garmin, or rely on Body Battery alone. For most athletes, Body Battery is sufficient: it is free, already on your wrist, and directionally accurate enough to inform training decisions. Whoop MG is the better recovery tool, but it costs a recurring subscription and cannot replace a GPS watch for training. If you train seriously, track HRV daily, and want the most accurate readiness data an optical sensor can provide, buy Whoop MG as a complement to your GPS watch. If you want one device that does everything adequately, stay with Body Battery on a mid-range Garmin and save the subscription cost.
