Velo Podcast Questions the Coros Dura 2 Value

The Coros Dura 2 is getting its first proper dose of skepticism. In an October 30 Velo Podcast discussion, the hosts put the new bike computer under the microscope, focusing less on a spec-sheet victory lap and more on whether its ecosystem, controls and price make sense for real riders.

Velo’s Josh Ross says the ecosystem is “really good and very important,” which gets to the heart of the Dura 2 proposition. A bike computer is not a standalone purchase once training records, routes and sensor connections are involved. If Coros makes that daily workflow easy, it matters more than a minor hardware advantage. For riders already using Coros watches, that continuity may be the strongest reason to look here. The Dura 2 brings a larger screen and solar charging, as covered in our [launch report](/en/articles/coros-dura-2-adds-larger-screen-and-solar-charging-2026-10-22).

There is a useful split in the Velo conversation. Ross values the connected platform; Lisa Charlebois is “mourning the scroll wheel.” That sounds small until wet gloves, rough gravel and mid-ride navigation enter the picture. Controls are training-day features, not showroom details. A bigger display is welcome only if operating the unit remains fast and predictable when riders are tired, cold or trying to stay on a wheel.

What is missing is a clear answer on price. Velo frames the wider computer debate around who needs an $800 device with only “so-so battery life,” then returns to “dislikes & the price question” for the Dura 2. The supplied report does not give the Dura 2 price or battery claim, so we cannot settle that argument yet. It does show that Coros will be judged against expectations set by established cycling computer ecosystems, not just against its prior hardware.

Our verdict: the Dura 2 looks most compelling for committed Coros users who value one connected training platform. Riders who depend on a scroll wheel or want a proven interface should wait for fuller hands-on testing before switching.
