Amazfit Extends Software Support to 3+ Years on Select Wearables

Zepp Health has quietly updated its software support policy, with several Amazfit devices now guaranteed updates for over three years post-launch. That puts Amazfit closer to Garmin territory, where watches like the Fenix 6 series still receive firmware patches years after release.

For endurance athletes, long support windows matter more than most people realise. A triathlon watch that loses HRV tracking accuracy or GPS firmware refinements after 18 months is essentially a disposable device, which has been a fair criticism of budget wearables in the past.

Amazfit has been pushing hard into the performance wearable space with models like the T-Rex 3 and Cheetah Pro, sitting well below Garmin and Coros on price while closing the gap on features. Extended support makes those price-to-value calculations look even better when you're comparing a $250 Amazfit against a $500 Fenix 7.

The specific models benefiting most from this policy shift have not been fully listed publicly, so buyers should confirm support timelines before purchasing. Whoop and Apple Watch operate on different models entirely, but Polar and Coros have generally been strong on long-term firmware commitment, and Amazfit now appears to be matching that standard.

Solid move from Zepp Health. Not a complete answer to every concern about Amazfit's ecosystem, but three-plus years of support gives athletes a much stronger reason to take these watches seriously.
