Garmin CIRQA Smart Band Spotted on DC Rainmaker's Wrist
DC Rainmaker has been photographed wearing what appears to be the Garmin CIRQA smart band, spotted in an Instagram story alongside a Whoop 5.0 and a third unidentified band, all tucked under a tri-suit during testing. That kind of side-by-side field test usually means a review is close to dropping.
Garmin launched the Index Sleep Monitor in January 2024, and the CIRQA looks to follow a similar recovery-focused positioning. A mid-February release window is now being floated, which would put it squarely in competition with Whoop 5.0 and the Oura Ring Gen 4 in the dedicated wellness band market.
The CIRQA is expected to target endurance athletes who want continuous HRV, sleep, and recovery tracking without the bulk of a Fenix 8 or Forerunner 965 on their wrist. Think Whoop territory, but with Garmin's ecosystem: Connect IQ, Training Readiness scores, and direct sync with your existing Garmin watch data.
If Garmin prices this aggressively, say under $200 with no subscription fee unlike Whoop's mandatory monthly cost, it could pull serious market share from recovery-band loyalists. Polar's Ignite line and the Coros fitness trackers don't quite fill this niche, which leaves room for Garmin to land cleanly.
Verdict: Nothing confirmed yet, but DC Rainmaker testing it in real conditions is about as close to a green light as you get. Watch mid-February.
